The study of the vocabulary related to the book of transactions, , s ale s (buyū’), usury (riba), ordering items (salam), collateral (rahn), suspension (hajr), settlement (sulh), assignment of debt (ḥawala), guarantee ing payment (ḍamān), bodily warranty (kafāla), partnership (sh arika), commissioning others (wakala), admissions (iqrār), lending (‘ i ‘āra), wrongfully-taken property (ghasb), pre-emption (shufa'a), financing a profit-sharing venture (qard), watering crops (muṣāqa), sharecropping (muzāra'a), wage (ja'ala), farming and sharecropping (al-muzāra'a wa ’ l mukhābara), reviving abandoned lands (ihyā' al-mawāt), endowments (waqf), gift s (hiba), acquisition of lost property (luq aṭa), foundling (laqiṭ), deposit s for safekeeping (wadī 'a).
