About This Event
(Ages 6 – 12) Join us for a 10-week introductory Dari language course designed for youth ages 10–15 who are interested in learning to speak, read, and write Dari in a supportive and engaging environment. Whether you're looking to connect with family, strengthen cultural ties, prepare for community service, or simply learn a new language, this course provides a strong foundation in conversational Dari.
Throughout the 10 weeks, students will build their speaking, reading, and writing skills while learning essential vocabulary, common phrases, pronunciation, basic grammar, and practical communication through interactive lessons and guided practice.
In addition to language instruction, students will explore Islamic Studies in Dari, helping them strengthen both their language proficiency and their understanding of Islamic concepts in the language.
August 16 – October 18th | Every Sunday 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. | Ages 6 – 12 | Register at mcceastbay.org/dari-class | $20 per class | Textbooks provided | capped at 20 students
Materials needed: Notebook, pencils, and a snack

Duration: 10 Weeks
Schedule: Sundays, 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Capacity: Limited to 20 students
Open to beginners
Space is limited to ensure a personalized learning experience. Registration is required.
About Sister Rukhshana:
Rukhsana Barethz is an experienced educator and supervisor with over 35 years of experience working with children and youth ages 5–16. She completed high school and college coursework, including 30 credits in Early Childhood Development and 6 credits in Supervision.
Throughout her career, Rukhsana has served in both teaching and supervisory roles, where she has been dedicated to fostering supportive learning environments and helping children grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Her decades of experience have equipped her with a deep understanding of child development, classroom management, and educational leadership.
Rukhsana is fluent in English, Dari, Farsi, and Urdu, allowing her to effectively connect with and support families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
