InstagramRecalibration.
Recalibration is the process of readjusting our tools, behaviors, or expectations so they remain accurate and effective.
Today, the adjustment wasn’t to my tools. It was to my behavior.
Last night, I didn’t make the best food choices. Let’s just say Ben & Jerry’s and I spent a little too much time together. I woke up with elevated blood sugar.
Instead of immediately reaching for the medication that’s prescribed for moments like this, I got dressed and got on my bike.
An hour later, and after almost 15½ miles, my blood sugar was lower than it would have been with medication alone. And I got the added benefit of exercise, fresh air, and another reminder that our daily choices matter.
Medication has its place, and I’m grateful to have it when I need it. But so does behavior change.
The goal isn’t to keep correcting the same habits. The goal is to build better ones, so less correction is needed in the first place.
That’s the recalibration I’m after.
Insha’Allah, I’ll keep making the necessary adjustments.
May Allah protect us from contributing to our own demise with our own hands.
InstagramWho watches the watchdog?
A free press isn't just about journalism. It's about accountability.
In this clip, Ayesha K. Mustafaa, editor of the Muslim Journal, shares why independent media matters and why the questions we ask about it today may shape the society we leave tomorrow.
What role do you believe independent journalism should always protect?

InstagramI’m late in saying this publicly.
Upon learning of the passing of Mother Khadijah Farrakhan, I reached out privately to express my condolences to Minister Farrakhan, the Farrakhan family, and the members of the Nation. Aisha and I were also blessed to attend her Janazah.
Still, there are moments when a private expression is not enough. Some lives deserve public recognition because their example belongs not only to those who knew them personally, but to the broader community.
For the many brothers and sisters I have in the Nation, and on behalf of the community I am honored to serve at Masjid Al-Taqwa, I publicly extend my heartfelt condolences on the passing of a woman whose life reflected steadfast leadership, remarkable longevity, faithful service, and unwavering devotion.
Mother Khadijah Farrakhan leaves behind an example worthy of remembrance and respect.
May Allah reward her for the purity of her intentions and the consistency of her service. May Allah grant comfort and strength to Minister Farrakhan, the Farrakhan family, and all who mourn her passing.

InstagramEvery generation inherits something worth protecting.
The question is whether we’ll simply consume the messages around us, or help shape them.

Our conversation is anchored by a powerful reminder:
“It’s not that we love conflict, but some things are too sacred to surrender.”
