How Kawthar members consent to text messages
For carrier and compliance reviewers. Kawthar is an invitation-only, adults-only (18+) community platform, so every opt-in control below lives inside a signed-in member account and cannot be reached from the public web. This page reproduces those screens exactly — same controls, same consent wording — so the workflow can be reviewed without an account. The forms here are inert: nothing on this page submits, stores, or sends anything.
Web form, inside the member's own account. There is no verbal, paper, keyword, or QR opt-in path, and no third-party or purchased list is ever loaded. A member can only ever enroll their own number, and only by typing it and then proving control of the handset with a one-time code.
The three message types are three separate opt-ins. Consenting to one never enrolls a member in another, and each can be withdrawn on its own — in the product, or by replying STOP to any message.
Dashboard → Settings. Submitting the number is consent to receive the single verification code it requests, and nothing else. Kawthar sends no other message to an unverified number.
Reproduction — not a working form
A text before events you RSVP'd to — at most 2 messages per event you RSVP to (one a day before, one an hour before), and none if you never RSVP. Standard message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for assistance. Your mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes. See our SMS Terms, Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy.
Verify a phone number below to turn this on.
The 6-digit code is entered back into the same screen. Until this succeeds, the number is not stored as verified and no reminder of any kind can be enabled for it.

Enter the 6-digit code we sent to ••• ••• 0134 (expires in 10 min).
Only now does the toggle become usable. It is off by default; switching it on is its own deliberate action and is the only thing that authorizes event reminder texts.

In the Kawthar Voter Center, a member may build a voting plan — they choose the polling place and the time themselves. Only after choosing does this control appear, and only for that one election. Turning on event reminders never turns on voting reminders.

Where: Orland Township Hall — 14807 S Ravinia Ave, Orland Park, IL (chosen by the member)
When: Tue, Mar 17 at 5:00 PM (chosen by the member)
A text reminding you of the polling place and time you chose, on the day you chose, plus one follow-up asking whether you were able to vote — at most 2 messages per election. Non-partisan logistics only: never who or what to vote for, and never on behalf of a candidate, party, or campaign. Standard message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for assistance. Your mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes.
Kawthar splits opt-in across more than one screen — agreeing to receive a verification code and agreeing to receive reminders are separate acts here, never bundled. This is where each required element appears.
| Requirement | Where it appears |
|---|---|
| Phone number input field | Step 1 — member types their own number. |
| Consent control, not pre-selected | Step 3 and Step 4 — each reminder type has its own control, shipped OFF and inert until the number is verified. Neither is ever checked on the member's behalf. |
| Clear description of the messages | Shown verbatim beside each control (Steps 3 and 4), and reproduced in full below. |
| Message frequency | Stated in each disclosure as a hard cap: at most 2 per RSVP'd event, at most 2 per election. |
| Message and data rates disclaimer | In every disclosure sentence. |
| HELP and STOP instructions | In every disclosure sentence, and in every message we send. |
| Links to Terms of Service and Privacy Policy | Beside the control, and at the foot of this page. |
| Clear submit action | "Send code" (Step 1) then "Verify" (Step 2). Reminders begin only after the member additionally switches on the control in Step 3 or 4. |
Every message Kawthar can send, in full. There are no other templates.
Verification code
Your Kawthar verification code is 123456. It expires in 10 minutes. Reply STOP to opt out.
Event reminder
Tomorrow: Community Iftar - Fri, Mar 7, 6:30 PM. https://kawthar.app/events/community-iftar Reply STOP to opt out.
Voting reminder
Kawthar: you planned to vote today at 5:00 PM - Orland Township Hall, 14807 S Ravinia Ave, Orland Park. Polls close at 7 PM. Reply STOP to opt out.
Voting follow-up (one only)
Kawthar: did you get a chance to vote today? Reply Y or N. Reply STOP to opt out.
Replying STOP to any Kawthar message stops all of them immediately. The opt-out is recorded against the number itself, not against a preference row, so it survives account changes and applies to every message type at once. Replying HELP returns contact details. Members can also remove their number entirely from account settings, which turns off every reminder in the same action.
