BiographyAaron M. Ortiz is the incumbent Democratic state representative for Illinois House District 1, first elected in 2018. Born and living in Chicago's Gage Park neighborhood, he graduated from Brother Rice High School and earned a bachelor's degree in urban planning from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He worked as a college counselor at Back of the Yards College Preparatory High School and is a Chicago Teachers Union member.
