Assafa Islamic Center is a not-for-profit, religious, and non-political organization in New York City, established by the local Muslim community in 1996. Founded by a group of Muslims from the Lower East Side in a rented tailoring store, the center later moved to a basement on Allen Street and, after purchasing a vacant lot on Eldridge Street in 1998, constructed a six-story building completed in 2016. The center provides religious, educational, and community services, including Quran, Islamic studies, and Arabic classes, and states that it is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
