The Muslim Community Center of Greater San Diego was founded in 2001 in Rancho Penasquitos, originally providing prayer services and an Islamic school. In 2010, the center opened a 10,000-square-foot facility in Santa Luz, with subsequent expansions adding sports facilities and energy-efficient initiatives. The center offers programs including an Al-Manar weekend school, youth activities, community services, marriage and funeral services, and educational archives.
